Example of a personality portrait. It's 'more than just a standard headshot!
I often get potential clients reaching out to me, curious about my business photo packages. One of the most common questions I get is about the difference between my basic headshot session and my personality portrait session. While I do provide details on my pricing page, I thought it would be helpful to dive a little deeper into what each package entails and how they can serve your needs.
The Basic Headshot Session
Let’s start with the basic headshot package. This is all about capturing you from the shoulders up—think of it as your professional face. During this session, you’ll have the chance to wear a few different outfits, but remember, what you wear from the waist up is crucial. I usually recommend avoiding anything too distracting or with busy patterns because the focus should be on your face.
After our session, you’ll receive three to five of the best photos. These high-resolution images are perfect for your business cards, LinkedIn profile, or even a billboard if you’re feeling adventurous! The background will either be a standard backdrop or whatever environment we’re in, giving you that nice, soft, blurry effect behind you.
The Personality Portrait Session
Now, let’s talk about the personality portrait session. This is where things get a bit more exciting! This package is designed to showcase more of your personality and can include your entire body. So, what you wear—head to toe—really matters here.
In this session, we take more photos, and you’ll get a wider variety of final images. You can change outfits multiple times, which means you’ll have different looks for various uses—whether it’s for LinkedIn, your website, or promotional materials.
I’ve had some fantastic experiences with personality portraits. For instance, I once did a session with a client at the beach. She wanted to highlight her love for the water, and we captured her in fun, casual outfits that reflected her personality. Some shots were candid, with her looking away from the camera, while others had her engaging directly with the lens. The result? A collection of images that truly conveyed her fun-loving, gentle nature, which is exactly what she wanted potential clients to see.
Which One is Right for You?
So, which package should you choose? It really depends on your needs. If you only need headshots, the basic session is perfect. But if you’re looking for something that captures your personality and environment, the personality portrait session is the way to go.
And just a heads up—while the personality portrait session does cost a bit more, you’re getting a lot more in return.
Retouching and Communication
With all my packages, retouching is included. I believe in making you look like yourself on your best day. This means light skin smoothing, wrinkle removal, stray hair fixes, and even light teeth whitening. I keep it natural because it’s important for your clients to recognize you. If you have specific requests—like straightening teeth or removing scars—I’m more than happy to accommodate those as well.
Before our session, I’ll keep the lines of communication open to prepare you and set expectations. During the shoot, I’ll guide you and show you the raw photos as we go, so you can tell me what you like or don’t like. This way, we can focus on what works best for you. After the session, I’m still here for you. If you have any last-minute requests for changes, just let me know. My goal is to ensure you’re completely happy with your photos.
If you have any questions or just want to chat about which package might be right for you, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always here to help!
